Legian and Kuta Beach Area Guides

The Kuta / Legian hotels & villas listed here generally do not require deposits. We display previous guest rating guides plus donate what we earn to charity. Kuta’s history is originally it was a small fishing village with some bamboo beach bungalows being erected for tourists in the 1930’s. Nothing much changed until the late 1960’s when the hippies discovered Kuta and its three and a half mile long white sandy beach; the bungalows were replaced with local accommodations called “losmen”, which in turn were then replaced with hotels. As Kuta developed, the surrounding villages of Legian and Tuban were swallowed up in the ensuing tourist area expansion. The main facets of Kuta and Legian are the beach (Kuta has 5km, Legian 3km), the sunsets, shopping and the nightlife. There are an incredible range of accommodation from cheap backpacker hotels along the so called Poppies lanes, to luxury 5 star resorts in Kuta and Legian Beach Bali.
